Description
The Dresden Lawn Bowling Club started back over one hundred and fifteen years ago, in 1907. In that time, the club has produced some of the finest bowlers in all of Ontario and Canada, with two of our members having been inducted into the Dresden Sports Hall of Fame (Muriel McKim and Erin Roth).
Lawn bowling has often been compared to curling or bocce ball and shares the same goal of being the team closest to the target (called a “jack”) and scoring a point or multiple points. It’s a great social game to get out and meet people from our own club or different clubs in our area (District 1 of the Ontario Lawn Bowls Association). As well, it can be as competitive as you like if you choose to participate in district level competitions, which can earn you a place to represent District 1 at the provincial level (there are 16 districts throughout Ontario), and possibly even at the Canadian level.
Our club currently has 44 members. Club members gather twice weekly for in-club competitions (“jitneys”) or more if they choose to enter our in-club or district tournaments. Contact us to come give it a try!
